Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are seeking the public’s help in the hopes of identifying a suspect caught on surveillance video stealing electric toothbrushes from a drug store in Tamarac.

Detectives believe the unidentified white male is more interested in selling the stolen property than he is with oral hygiene. The brushing instruments range in price from 80 to 100 dollars.

On May 21 shortly before 5 p.m., the suspect entered the Walgreens located at 8801 West Commercial Boulevard. He’s seen on surveillance video placing items in a small shopping basket. After which, he walks to the back of the store, then a few minutes later he hurriedly walks through the front door carrying the shopping basket filled with stolen merchandise over the door’s security checkpoint.

It wasn’t until the next day (May 22), when the thief struck again, that employees were able to determine what merchandise had been stolen. The suspect, who is believed to be between 35 and 45 years old, struck the same Walgreens, this time at 3:30 in the afternoon. He escaped with three Oral B and two Sonicare electrical toothbrushes with a total value of $500.

BSO detectives have reason to believe this suspect has struck other Walgreen Drug Stores in the Tamarac area. Anyone with information on the identity of the toothbrush bandit is asked to call BSO District 7 Det. Patricia Fernandez at (954) 720-2225 or call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
