Description of Incident:
Two people are dead and three others were injured in an overnight bar fight that led to a car crash in Dania Beach.
Shortly before 1:00 AM, a fight between two women broke out at Chubb’s Place, a neighborhood bar. The fight escalated and one man was shot. He was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, and is expected to survive.
A man, woman and at least two other passengers left the bar in a white Chevrolet, and headed down NW 4th Avenue. A maroon Jeep traveling east on NW 2nd Street rammed the Chevrolet at the intersection. Paramedics pronounced the Chevrolet’s driver and front seat passenger dead at the scene. Two other passengers in the Chevrolet sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Memorial Regional. The driver of the Jeep—the sole occupant of that vehicle—was not injured.
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives and traffic homicide investigators are questioning witnesses and survivors in both incidents to try to determine a motive. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting autopsies on both deceased victims to determine the exact cause and manner of death. Charges have not yet been filed in either incident. The names of all those involved are expected to be released later today.
Detectives are interested in learning more about both incidents. Anyone with information is urged to call the Broward Sheriff's Office at (954) 765-4321 or CrimeStoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS.
