Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office Robbery detectives are releasing surveillance video in the hopes of identifying two nicely dressed armed suspects who robbed a Pompano Beach bank last month.

The two necktie-wearing rifle-carrying suspects entered the Union Planters bank located at 1321 South Pompano Parkway around 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2002. After ordering
everyone to get down and put their hands up, one of the white-collar dressed bandits approached a teller and demanded the money. Intimidated by the suspect’s firepower, the teller quickly complied with his demand and placed a tray of money from his drawer on the counter. The suspect put the whole tray in his backpack, then both suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

One witness spotted the suspects as they ran to an awaiting vehicle driven by a black male. No description was given for the driver, but the getaway car is possibly a four-door, cream or champagne colored Toyota Camry or similar type vehicle.

The bank robbers are believed to be black males in their early to mid-twenties with
medium builds and close to six feet tall. Both were wearing long-sleeve button down dress shirts with dark patterned neckties, baggie blue jeans and baseball caps.

Anyone with information on the identity and/or whereabouts of these two rifle toting suspects is asked to call BSO Robbery Det. Lacy Crew at (954) 493-4270 or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS.

MEDIA NOTE: A GOOD QUALITY BLACK& WHITE VIDEO IS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR REPRODUCTION AT BSO’S MEDIA RELATIONS UNTIL 5 P.M. TODAY.
