July 29, 2013, Update: Sheriff Scott Israel's Gun Buy-Back was a great success. Deputies recovered 51 guns during the half-day event. These are weapons that will never fall into the hands of criminals as is often the case with unwanted guns that are not properly secured.

In a matter of minutes a burglar can get their hands on a gun that is not stored safely. Instead of having an unwanted gun land in the hands of criminals, you can exchange those weapons for gift cards at the next BSO gun buyback event in North Lauderdale.

9:00 a.m. - noon
Saturday, July 27th, 2013
Pompano Park in North Lauderdale
4001 Bailey Rd., North Lauderdale, 33319

BSO and Broward Crime Stoppers are giving attendees who turn in a firearm up to $100 in gift cards in exchange, no questions asked.

Sheriff Scott Israel recommends you store your firearms under lock and key, unloaded and with the cylinder or action open.

Residents should also be aware of their surroundings and should contact Broward Crime Stoppers if they have information about someone who illegally possesses firearms. Through the Gun Stoppers program, the caller can receive up to $1,000 if a tip leads to an arrest. To make an anonymous report, call (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
