FIREHOUSE FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY
11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Saturday, February 25, 2012
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Station 27
2610 SW 40 Ave., Pembroke Park
Hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy and fire trucks will be featured at a free open house at Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Station 27 in Pembroke Park on Saturday, February 25.
In addition, kids can paint a real fire truck (washable paint, of course!) hop around in a bounce house and meet Sparky the fire prevention dog. But wait, there’s more fun in store as kids can compete in an old-fashioned bucket brigade relay, knock down cones with a fire hose stream and race in bulky firefighter bunker gear.
“This is an opportunity for our residents, especially the children, to interact with the firefighters and deputies that serve their neighborhood, all in the name of fun,” Sheriff Al Lamberti said. There will also be firehouse tours, fire and life safety education and crime prevention displays, as well as displays and demonstrations from the BSFR Hazardous Materials Team and Technical Rescue Team.
There will also be recruitment and information on careers in firefighting and law enforcement, the explorer program and joining the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
