Description of Incident:

The Broward Sheriff's Office is working with other law enforcement agencies, trying to find a
22-year old woman missing since Monday morning when she left home to drive to work.

The family of Barbara Lara says the single mother of a 5-year old boy was last seen at about 8:00 a.m. the morning of Monday, June 10, 2002 when she left her home at 351 NE 57th Court in unincorporated Ft. Lauderdale.

According to the family, Barbara was acting normally that morning and was following her usual routine before getting in her car to drive to her job at Saturn Communications in Cooper City.

BSO investigators say there’s no reason to believe at this point that Barbara fled the area for any reason and are stepping-up efforts to locate the young woman. A statewide bulletin has been issued to law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for Barbara Lara and her car. The vehicle is a 2000 model year Mazda Protégé, 4-door, tan in color with a Florida tag of TO5-ZEF.

Barbara Isabel Lara is a white female of Hispanic descent. She is 5-foot-3 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She has reddish-brown, shoulder-length hair and a missing tooth on the top, right side of her mouth. On her right ankle, she has a tattoo of a tiger with the name “Alex” below it. Barbara was last seen wearing a gray shirt, blue suede-type pants with white stripes down the sides, and gray Nike shoes. Photos of Barbara are attached to this release on the BSO website at www.Sheriff.org.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Barbara Isabel Lara should call the Broward Sheriff's Office Missing Persons Unit at (954) 321-4240 or (954) 765-4321.
