Description of Incident:

An on-duty Broward Sheriff’s Office motorman died Wednesday after a car crash in Pompano Beach.

At 2:24 p.m., Deputy Christopher Schaub’s motorcycle collided with a Mercedes. The woman driving the Mercedes sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue to Broward Health North hospital.

Deputy Schaub, who had worked for BSO for 22 years, was severely injured in the crash. BSO’s helicopter transported him to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died Wednesday evening as hundreds of fellow deputies gathered at the hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
