Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff’s Office District 10 (Deerfield Beach) detectives are trying to track down two bike riding robbers who stole cash from a man sitting in front of a convenience store.
Bruce Bridges told deputies that he was sitting on a bench in front of the Second Avenue Deli at 111 SE 2nd Avenue, when two men rode up on bicycles and asked if he had change for a $100 bill. He reached into his walled searching for smaller bills, when one of the men grabbed the cash he had in his hand and both suspects started to flee on their bikes. Bridges said he tried to catch them and, during a brief struggle, he received a minor bump on the head.
Detectives interviewed the store clerk who told them that the suspects had been in the store moments before the incident took place. He said they asked him for change but he didn’t have enough money in the register. Investigators reviewed the store’s surveillance video and both suspects were captured on tape. Still photos of the suspects can be found on the BSO website at www.sheriff.org.
The suspects are described as black males 20-25 years of age. The first was approx. 5’8” tall, 200 pounds, with an orange t-shirt that had a Tommy Hilfiger logo on the front. The second bad guy was approx. 5’8” tall, 130 lbs., wearing a yellow Tommy Hilfiger shirt, black pants, and a white headband. Both suspects had short dreadlocks.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
