Sheriff asks for public's help to find deputy's killer
Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne is asking for the public’s help in bringing to justice the killer of BSO Deputy Chris Reyka who was killed early on the morning of August 10, 2007 following a shooting outside a drug store in Pompano Beach. Sgt. Reyka was a father of four and an 18-year veteran of law enforcement.
"I am asking as your sheriff for your help. Right now, someone knows something and someone has some information that they need to give to us,” Sheriff Jenne said.
Hundreds of tips have been received by BSO since the shooting and investigators are working around the clock to track these leads. The sheriff said the case will likely be solved by a tip from the general public.
Investigators are seeking information on a white car that may have been at the scene during the shooting. "If you know someone who has a white car or if you have a white car and don't know where it was during that time, you need to tell us," Sheriff Jenne said.
A $106,000 reward, from funds contributed by Crime Stoppers, FDLE, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Office in Miami and $11,000 from private citizens, is available for information leading to the arrest of the culprits
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS, or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
