Online Report Request Form
Event and accident reports that are requested online cannot be mailed. They must be picked up in person at the Public Safety Building, open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Requesting a report online is a good idea and can save you substantial time. Here's why.
To request a record online, please complete the form below and click "Submit to BSO". A valid e-mail address is required. Background checks are not currently available online. You must go to the Public Safety Building to request a background check or mail your request to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Your request will be processed and emailed to you, with the exception of reports marked as Exempted or Confidential; we will email you when those reports are ready for pick-up at the Broward Public Safety Building. When you come to pick up your documents, please bring identification and cash or check (credit or debit cards are not accepted) for the fees required and present them to the representative at the Records window in the lobby.
A security screening (metal detector and X-ray) is required to enter the Public Safety Building.
IMPORTANT: If you wish to obtain a traffic accident report within 60 days of the incident, Florida law requires that you complete a Request for Traffic Crash Report Information Form indicating you are entitled to receive it (please review the form to make certain you are eligible). Mail the completed and signed form with your letter of request to the address below. After 60 days, the form is not necessary and anyone may obtain a copy of the report.
