Officer Scott A. Winters

March 30, 1962 - July 29, 1990

Officer Scott Winters was a member of the Pompano Beach Police Department (now part of BSO's jurisdiction) when he was shot and killed on the evening of July 29th, 1990.

Officer Winters and his K-9 partner, Baron, were searching for a suspect just south of Martin Luther King Boulevard following the rape and beating of a young Pompano Beach woman. Officer Winters captured the suspect, a struggle ensued and the suspect grabbed Officer Winters' firearm and shot him.

He succumbed to his wounds later that evening.

Officer Winters' killer was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
