To Kim and family,

Today 11-7-07 I learned about the loss of Chris. You don't know me but Chris and I were best buddies in our early years of growing up in Fairborn, OH. The last time I saw Chris was during a visit to Ft. Lauderdale in 1980. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

It's so sad that this has happened to your family. This case deserves closure and I hope and pray that someone comes forward or is brought to justice for such a heinous act. This family deserves peace.

My prayers and condolences go out to the his wife and children. I hope the Lord can guide you through the storm and be strong. A wonderful man who loved to serve his county and people, a true sheriff to the end. Not a lot of people realize police officers are here for us and our safety. May God bless you and I'll keep you in my prayers.

Dear Mrs Reyka,

God Bless you and your beautiful children.

As your Sergeant stands roll call before Saint Michael and Saint Peter, preparing to walk his new beat, I hope you might find comfort in the words of Henry Scott Holland whose thoughts, I am sure, reflect the feelings in your Christopher's heart:

Death is Nothing at All

Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into
the next room

I am I and you are you
whatever we were to each other
that we still are

call me by my old
familiar name
speak to me in the easy way
which you always used

put no difference in your tone
wear no forced air of
solemnity or sorrow

laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we
enjoyed together

pray smile, think of me,
pray for me
Let my name be ever the
household word
that it always was

Let it be spoken
without effort
without the trace of
a shadow in it

Life means all
that it ever meant
it is the same as it ever was
there is unbroken continuity

why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you
somewhere very near
just around the corner

All is well

Being a former Davie Police explorer scout it saddens me to hear of a officer who was shot down while on duty.
