Deputy Paul Rein

October 5, 1931-November 7, 2007

Deputy Paul Rein, 76, was shot and killed while conducting a prisoner transport on the morning of November 7, 2007.

During his 20-year career with the Broward Sheriff's Office, Deputy Rein worked in the Department of Detention's Central Intake, providing prisoner transport. He was a proud member of BSO's Honor Guard. Dep. Rein was well liked and well respected by his colleagues. Throughout his career, Dep. Rein received numerous letters of commendation and consistently earned high performance reviews.

Deputy Rein served honorably in the US Army from October 1948 to February 1950. He worked for the US Postal Service for 34 years prior to becoming a detention deputy.

Deputy Rein is survived by his wife, Teri, his sons, retired Davie Police Lieutenant Richard Rein, Joe and step-son, Coconut Creek Police Officer Christopher Beroldi.

A memorial fund in honor of Deputy Paul Rein has been established by the Sheriff's Foundation of Broward County.
