Crime Lab
BSO's Crime Laboratory provides scientific analyze of evidence submitted by police agencies in Broward County from their crime scenes, police investigations and arrests. The Lab was the first Sheriff’s Crime Lab in the United States to be internationally accredited. The Crime Lab receives nearly 25,000 cases a year. It provides their written reports to investigative Agencies and Expert testimony in Court. The Lab is located in the Broward County Courthouse. The Crime Lab is divided into five areas of forensic expertise plus Administrative and Evidence Units:

- Chemistry Unit
- DNA Unit
- Evidence Intake Unit
- Firearms/Toolmarks Unit
- Latent Print Unit
