On March 4, 2008, Dep. Roger Frey was pro-actively patrolling his zone and targeted the Hampton Apartments looking for suspicious activity. During patrol, Dep. Frey made an arrest for felony narcotics and upon completion of that arrest returned to the area. Once back in the area, he noticed another suspicious individual near the rear of the property, dressed in all black clothing looking into vehicles.
Dep. Frey made contact with the individual and learned that he did not live in the area. His activity, coupled with him being a transient, heightened Dep. Frey's suspicions and prompted further investigation. The suspect was evasive and arrested for loitering and prowling. A search of the suspect revealed a pair of modified scissors, commonly used to enter and possibly steal vehicles. Upon conducting a criminal history check on the suspect it was learned that he also had past arrests for auto-theft.
For his diligent efforts, Deputy Roger Frey received employee of the month honors.
