Fire Rescue Regional Logistics
BSO's Fire Rescue Regional Logistics Unit sources and supplies fire suppression, fire prevention and other fire-related equipment for the agency's Fire Rescue personnel and for most fire rescue departments in Broward County.
From a 10,000 square foot storage and fulfillment facility in Ft. Lauderdale, the unit maintains an inventory of nearly 1,000 items including medical supplies, vehicle maintenance items, tools, computer equipment, office supplies and more. The unit also provides uniforms, fittings and alterations with on-site tailoring. A computerized inventory management system tracks product inventory, customer orders, fulfillment reports and customer account status.
In 1998, the unit received National Association of Counties Innovation in Government Award for its the development and management of this unique logistics operation.
Product catalogs and online ordering are available to authorized purchasers from South Florida fire departments. Orders are generally processed within 48 hours and deliveries are made each weekday in the South Florida area.
