Description of Incident:
Who knows what he did to deserve a beating, but Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives have a great reason to throw a bruised man captured on surveillance video in jail.
The suspect walked into an Oakland Park branch of a Bank of America on Thursday, November 5, at around 2 p.m. The man, who was described by the teller as having bruises on his face, asked the teller if she could cash his check, but instead of giving her a check he handed her a note saying he was armed and demanded large bills. The teller complied with his demands and the man exited the bank. As he was fleeing through the bank’s parking lot a dye pack exploded, but he continued running to the parking lot of a residential area adjacent to the bank. He was seen fleeing the scene in a dark green vehicle, possibly a Ford Explorer, with a possible tag number 999YCH. No weapon was ever seen.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid-20s to mid-30s, about 5’8” tall, of medium build, has a short hairstyle and bruises on his face. He wore a dark color “Dickies” t-shirt with a long sleeve, white shirt underneath and a black baseball cap with a white picture of Sebastian, the Ibis bird who’s the mascot of the University of Miami.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about this robbery is asked to contact BSO Robbery Detective Mark Copley at 954-321-4270 or Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
