Civilian Volunteer
The Civilian Volunteer Program provides benefits to BSO, the participant, the community and Broward County by broadening community resources and increasing public awareness. The Civilian Volunteer Program can assist by allowing volunteers the opportunity to give back to the community.
Requirements:
All applicants of the Civilian Volunteer Program must meet the following qualifications in order to be considered:
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Be a tri-county area resident. (Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade counties.)
- Have an interest in Public Safety and in helping out their community.

The Civilian Volunteer Application packet is available at www.sheriff.org. Completed applications must be submitted to the Bureau of Human Resources located on the first floor of the Ron Cochran Public Safety Complex, 2601 West Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312, Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Volunteers who qualify will be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not be limited to evaluation of training and experience; interviews; polygraph examination; fingerprint and background check; and drug screen.
