Employee(s) of the Month

Last April, Dep. Kurt Douglass was patrolling the Port Everglades jurisdictional boundaries and had a LoJack alert on a John Deere front end loader that had been stolen in Miami earlier in the day. He was able to track the signal to Berth 31 and determined that the item was already loaded in a container on the ship. Further investigation revealed numerous containers in the hull of the ship. The container was located and opened and two front end loaders were found; both stolen. The total value of the recovered items was $320,000. For his diligence and investigative skills, Deputy Douglass was presented with a commendation by T.M. Roland from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
