Captain Cary Marks

Area 1 Commander: Pompano Beach

Captain Cary Marks joined the Broward Sheriff’s Office in May 1987. Prior to this, he served as an active member of the United States Air Force for nine years. Throughout his military service, he served as a Special Agent with the Office of Special Investigations tasked with conducting homicide, narcotic, fraud and counterintelligence/counterespionage investigations, as well as protective service operations for dignitaries. Throughout his career, he received numerous commendations/decorations for his service. After joining the Broward Sheriff’s Office, he left active duty but continued his military service as a USAF Reserve Special Agent. After 20 years of service, he retired from the USAF. During his career with the Broward Sheriff’s Office, he has served in various capacities in numerous districts and divisions throughout the agency. Some of these positions include working as a Road Patrol Deputy, Field Training Deputy, Criminal Investigations Detective, Organized Crime Detective, Internal Affairs Investigator, Road Patrol Sergeant, Criminal Investigations Sergeant, Selective Enforcement Team Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Commander for the Gang Task Force, Commander for the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and as an Executive Officer. Captain Marks is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Command Officers Development Course.
