Captain Al Hubrig

Captain Al Hubrig joined BSO in December of 1991 after graduating from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Legal Studies. He served as a road patrol deputy and on the newly formed Bicycle Unit. He was later promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1997. He has held positions on several transition teams, which oversaw the mergers of BSO with the Pompano Beach, Oakland Park, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea and North Lauderdale police departments. He also was a member of the team that coordinated the historic merger of BSO with Broward County Fire Rescue. After supervising road patrol, Narcotics and Robbery intervention units, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 2004. In 2006, Captain Hubrig became the executive officer of the Oakland Park district. He has his Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University and has successfully completed the Executive Leadership Program and the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute Commanders Course. Captain Hubrig is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy Session #248 as well as the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar Class #74. He was promoted to captain in February 2013 and became the District Chief for the City of Oakland Park.
