Captain Aimee Russo


Captain Aimee Russo began her law enforcement career in 1998 with the Broward Sheriffs’ Office as a warrants technician and later as a crime analyst. In 2003, she graduated the police academy and began serving BSO as a road patrol deputy assigned to the Tamarac District. In 2005, then Detective Russo was selected to join the Counter Terrorism Unit in the Strategic Investigations Division (SID). In 2007, she was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant and assigned to the newly formed Special Events Unit within SID. She was responsible for planning and executing the security plan for several events, including Fleet Week, the Air and Sea Show, the Orange Bowl and Super Bowl XVI. Captain Russo’s supervisor experience includes Patrol, Internal Affairs and Criminal Investigations/Special Victims Unit. In April 2015, Captain Russo was promoted to Lieutenant and served as a patrol commander in Deerfield Beach District where she was served as the commander of the Alpha Shift, Criminal Investigations, School Resource Deputies, Special Events, Community Affairs, and Grants Management. In October 2016, she was selected as the Executive Officer for the Cooper City District. Captain Russo is a native Floridian; she has a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University. She is a graduate of BSO’s Supervisor’s Leadership Academy and Executive Leadership Academy.
