Deputy Robert Milligan

​September 20, 1924 - August 12, 1978

Deputy Robert Milligan graduated from South Broward High School located in Hollywood in 1942, attended the University of Miami and served his country in the United States Army from February 27, 1943 until April 14, 1946 as a Private First Class Officer. Prior to serving with the Broward Sheriff's office Deputy Milligan began his career with the Hollywood Police Department on October 1, 1949. After serving 10 years as an Officer he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on January 13, 1954.


According to Former Chief of Police Thompson he stated Deputy Milligan scored the highest on his Sergeant's examination and would be an excellent candidate for the position. On November 9, 1954 Deputy Milligan submitted his application with the city of Hollywood for the position of Lieutenant and was promoted on November 1, 1956. On December 16, 1974 after serving 25 years of service, Deputy Milligan Retired as a Lieutenant.


Shortly, after his retirement Deputy Milligan joined the Broward Sheriff's Office in 1976 as a Civil Deputy.

On August 9, 1978 while serving an eviction notice in Lauderhill Deputy Milligan sustained a gunshot wound and passed away three days later. Deputy Milligan is represented by his daughter Tomi Milligan and Niece Peggy Milligan.
