WOMAN ARRESTED IN MURDER OF MAN FOUND DEAD IN BURNING CAR

Description of Incident:


Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives arrested an 18-year-old woman for her involvement in the death of Darren Butler, who was found in a burning car at a North Lauderdale park.

Rougiena Deriveire was arrested Nov. 18 and faces a charge of first-degree murder.


Butler's body was discovered around 5 a.m. Nov. 14 when BSO deputies responded to a car on fire at Bicentennial Park, 6100 Kimberly Blvd. When the flames were extinguished by North Lauderdale Fire Rescue, the 27-year-old's body was discovered in the car. Initially, his name was withheld until he could be positively identified.


The homicide investigation continues.
