On Tuesday, an early-morning plunder was cut short by an observant witness who called Regional Communications to report suspicious activity. Broward Sheriff's Office Pompano Beach deputies quickly responded and arrested six car burglars, including a woman who had a child with her.
It was around 1:40 a.m. Feb. 6 when the suspects burglarized two vehicles at 2103 N. Riverside Drive. One of the vehicle alarms sounded and the sextet fled in a 2016 Chevy Malibu. As deputies were investigating the car burglaries, they were dispatched to another Pompano Beach neighborhood where an observant witness had spotted the suspects' car in the 2300 block of Southeast 11th Street.
Before the bandits could venture too far, BSO deputies responded and arrested Christopher Aubourg, Merith Cordero, Latasha Dupree, Elijah Godson, Unique Quince and a 17-year-old boy.
Detectives later learned that surveillance video showed the suspects enter a 2012 Jeep Cherokee at 2410 S.E. 11th St. They face charges of burglary conveyance and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. BSO's Child Protective Investigations Section responded to the scene for the welfare and placement of the young child.
