ROBBER RUNS OFF WITH GOLD NECKLACE, RUNS OUT OF LUCK

Update: On Oct. 25, detectives arrested Louis Smith, 24, for the robbery he committed in Tamarac. He is now facing a charge for strong arm robbery.

Just before 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 14, a lanky man walked into Nina's Jewelry and Watch Supercenter located at 7112 N. University Drive in Tamarac. He asked the staff to look at several gold chains before he finally chose a 24-inch, 10-karat gold chain with an anchor design to try on. While admiring himself in a mirror, he abruptly turned and ran out of the store.

Staff tried to impede his exit but the robber was able to push his way through. He fled on foot and jumped a fence near the rear of the plaza.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact BSO Robbery Unit Det. Mark Copley at 954-321-4738 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or browardcrimestoppers.org.
