ROBBER RUNS OFF WITH NECKLACE, PROVING HE IS NOT WORTH HIS WEIGHT IN GOLD

Just before 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 14, a lanky man walked into Nina's Jewelry and Watch Supercenter located at 7112 N. University Drive in Tamarac. He asked the staff to look at several gold chains before he finally chose a 24-inch, 10-karat gold chain with an anchor design to try on. While admiring himself in a mirror, he abruptly turned and ran out of the store.

Staff tried to impede his exit but the robber was able to push his way through. He fled on foot and jumped a fence near the rear of the plaza.

The subject is described as a male with a very thin build, about 6 feet tall, with a long dark beard and a dark complexion. He wore dark pants, a gray long-sleeve sweatshirt, a gray backpack and a bright blue hair covering.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Robbery Unit Det. Mark Copley at 954-321-4738 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
