DISTRACTION THIEVES GO WITH PLAN B

Date: 4/17/2018

PIO Number: 18-4-2

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify two thieves caught on camera using distraction tactics to steal approximately $1,600 worth of jewelry the afternoon of March 5 from a Weston jewelry store.

Just after 1 p.m., two men, believed to be in their 20s, entered Mia of London located at 4529 Weston Road under the pretext of having a Cartier watch appraised. While the first man distracted the sales person, the second tried to pry open a display case.

After their initial efforts were unsuccessful, the two thieves chose to switch things up. The second thief approached the salesperson and distracted her while the first thief reached over and grabbed a watch and a ring. Plan B proved successful, and the two men left together.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael Kravecz at 954-389-2010. Reports can also be made anonymously to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
