Description of Incident:

Ten days after a homeless man was beaten to death near Ft. Lauderdale, Broward Sheriff's Office detectives issued a warrant for one of his acquaintances and took him into custody on Halloween night.

Homicide investigators zeroed in on Jose Arturo Bizarro-Cermeno, 44, as a potential suspect through the investigation.

The body of Youssef Hamraoui, 46, was found by a passerby around 11:40 p.m. Saturday night (Oct. 21) near a vacant building at 1955 S. S.R. 7. Initially the 911 caller believed the man needed medical assistance, but once Broward Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, they realized the man had been beaten to death.

Detectives say Bizarro-Cermeno and the victim had an ongoing dispute, which ultimately led to the killing.

Homicide investigators obtained a warrant for Bizarro-Cermeno's arrest on Oct. 31 and located him two hours later near the scene of the crime. He's been booked into the BSO Main Jail facing one count of first degree murder.
