Broward Sheriff Scott Israel will promote 46 employees December 13 from the departments of administration, fire rescue and law enforcement and administer the oath of office to 64 new detention and law enforcement deputies in a ceremony at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center.

When Sergeant Rafael Hernandez and Sergeant Lamar Williams began their careers at the Broward Sheriff's Office, Jimmy Carter had just assumed the presidency. For 40 years, these two men have faithfully and honorably served residents of Broward County. They are two of the 64 employees the sheriff will honor with longevity awards during the event.
