Suspect: Jaron Brown, male, 19, 11/25/97, 711 N.W. 68th Way, Hollywood
Description of Incident:
Jaron Brown was behind the wheel during a drive-by shooting in June and, now, he's behind bars. Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives arrested Brown on Sept. 22 in connection with the attempted murder of another man.
Around 1:40 p.m. June 27, BSO deputies on patrol in West Park heard gunshots in the 2800 block of Southwest 55th Avenue. A deputy spotted a Honda Civic speeding from the scene and tried to conduct a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Brown, refused to stop. As he sped away from deputies, a gun was thrown from the car. When the pursuit abruptly ended in Hollywood all the occupants fled except Brown. He was taken into custody for fleeing from deputies and reckless driving. He faces one count of attempted first degree murder.
Detectives are looking into whether the recovered gun or Brown played a role in other shootings and in the murder of Patrice Nunnally. Nunnally was fatally shot April 13th while she was in a car with her boyfriend and her daughter outside 4521 S.W. 22nd St. in West Park.
Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Homicide Detective John Curcio at 954-321-4212 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
