ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT

Sheriff Scott Israel announced last week that a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will arrive November 6, 2017 to examine all aspects of the Broward Sheriff's Office policy and procedures, management, operations and support services. Verification by the assessors that BSO continues to meet the Commission's state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to maintain accreditation – a highly prized recognition of law enforcement excellence.

As part of the on-site reaccreditation assessment, members of the community are invited to offer comments on BSO's services and performance at a public information session on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 6:00 PM. The session will be conducted at the Ron Cochran Public Safety Building, 2601 West Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, 33312.

If an individual cannot attend the public information session but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone. The public may call an assessor at (954) 321-5087 on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Persons wishing to offer written comments about the Broward Sheriff's Office ability to maintain the accreditation standards should address correspondence to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155.
