Description of Incident:

A car full of teenagers veered off the road early Sunday morning in Pompano Beach, leaving two dead and five injured.

Just before 3 a.m., Regional Communications was notified of the single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Northwest 15th Street.

According to witness statements, the 14-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a 2007 Toyota, heading westbound on Northwest 15 Street when he lost control of the car.  The vehicle exited the roadway, striking a palm tree and the metal pole of the railway's crossing arms before rolling over and landing upside down on the CSX railroad tracks.

Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit investigators determined the vehicle had been stolen from the City of Coconut Creek.

All occupants of the vehicle were teenagers ranging in ages from 12 to 14.  Thirteen-year-old Anaija Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene, while 12-year-old Chayanna Nesmith died at Broward Health Medical Center.  The remaining five teens were all transported to BHMC with varying degrees of injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
