Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are releasing surveillance video of a suspect seen driving through a Dania Beach neighborhood searching for unlocked vehicles to burglarize.

The video is from a theft that happened around 4 a.m. on May 6 in the 4400 block of Southwest 37th Avenue in Dania Beach.  It shows the thief as he stopped the stolen newer model, white Dodge Charger in the middle of the street in front of a victim's home, walked onto the driveway and tested the door handles to see if any of the vehicles were unlocked.

The suspect struck out with the first car but got lucky when he tugged on the handle of a white Ford F-150. The burglar, seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves, rifled through the center console and the back seat, walking away with a laptop.

Detectives say the suspect burglarized vehicles from at least two other homes in that same area.

The Broward Sheriff's Office reminds vehicle owners that burglaries like this one are crimes of opportunity.  You can avoid being a victim by simply making sure you lock your vehicle doors.
