Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating a fatal collision between an SUV and scooter that happened this morning in Lauderdale Lakes.

Just before 5:30 a.m. June 7, an Isuzu Rodeo and TaoTao 49cc scooter were headed in opposite directions on North State Road 7 when the northbound SUV turned left onto West Oakland Park Boulevard. It was at that point that the southbound scooter struck the front right fender of the Isuzu and its driver was flung off the TaoTao.

The scooter operator, Angel Franco Ramirez, was transported to Broward Health Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The Isuzu driver remained at the scene and didn't report any injuries.

BSO's traffic homicide investigators don't suspect impairment or excessive speed were factors, however, their investigation continues.
