A convenience store clerk didn't wait around to see what else the robber had up his sleeve. Once the suspect made his criminal intentions clear, the employee defended himself with a knife and then ran out of the store.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies need help identifying the man who stole cash from the 7-Eleven at 14 N. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach.

It's around 2:40 a.m. March 14, when the suspect walks into the store. In the surveillance video, he picks up a pack of gum and opens his wallet as if he's going to pay. He then saunters away and walks around the sales counter. That's when the cashier goes into defense mode, stabs the suspect with a pocket knife and then runs to safety. For his part, the robber grabs the cash register and leaves.

The suspect is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall with a closely cropped haircut. He was dressed in a blue dress shirt, red shorts and red sneakers. He carried what appears to be white T-shirt on his shoulder.
