POMPANO BEACH DEPUTIES CRACKING DOWN ON PROSTITUTION

POMPANO BEACH DEPUTIES CRACKING DOWN ON PROSTITUTION

PIO Number: 18-7-1

Date: July 2, 2018

The Broward Sheriff's Office is cracking down on prostitution in Pompano Beach. During its rolling operation, deputies are employing various methods to address the illegal activity.

Street-level prostitution adversely affects residents' quality of life and business in the city. People found to be participating in prostitution – whether it's as a buyer or seller – can face misdemeanor or felony charges under Florida State Statute 796.07. The severity of the charge depends on the number of previous offenses.

Joining Pompano Beach deputies in their effort are deputies from Central Broward, Deerfield Beach and VIPER (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response). The operation is designed to make it undesirable for prostitution to be conducted in Pompano Beach.

Anyone with information about this illegal activity is asked to contact Broward County Regional Communications at 954-764-HELP (4357).
