Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the death of a man Friday night as he crossed a Pompano Beach road.

According to witnesses, the man, identified as 35-year-old Sadrac Louis, was attempting to cross East Copans Road from south to north near the crosswalk at Northeast 12th Terrace. A Toyota Corolla heading westbound on East Copans Road was approaching the green light when Louis stepped onto the roadway and into the path of the oncoming vehicle.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported Louis to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Speed is not considered to be a factor in the cause of this accident.  The driver of the Corolla remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The THI investigation is ongoing.
