Description of Incident:
Broward Sheriff's Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a Monday night crash that resulted in the death of a 46-year-old pedestrian.

About 7:15 p.m. Nov. 6, a Dodge Durango was traveling north on Powerline Road through the intersection of West Prospect Road when Tony Carlyle was crossing Powerline Road in or near the crosswalk. The SUV’s driver, Carlo Lorenzoni, 53, struck Carlyle in the far left lane.

Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the crash scene and pronounced Carlyle dead. Lorenzoni remained at the scene and didn’t report any injuries.

According to witnesses, Lorenzoni had a green light as he drove through the intersection. THI detectives don’t believe excessive speed, impairment or mechanical malfunction contributed to the crash. Their investigation continues.
