Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatal collision between a speeding motorcycle and a semitractor-trailer that happened Wednesday in Weston.

Around 10:10 p.m. Nov. 28, a Peterbilt truck traveling on U.S. Highway 27 near Interstate 75 pulled over to the right edge of the road to investigate a possible mechanical issue. The driver was inspecting the trailer when a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja H2 motorcycle slammed into the rear left side of the trailer.

BSO’s Weston deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was struck by debris but didn’t report any injuries.

Detectives with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit suspect that the motorcyclist’s excessive speed is the primary factor in the crash. Their investigation continues.
