Date: October 27, 2017                                                          PIO Number: 17-10-33

At approximately 10:30 Friday morning, October 27, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to a report of a commercial structure fire at Sud's Laundry Center, located at 4110 N. State Rd. 7 in Lauderdale Lakes.

Upon arrival, firefighters identified an overheated dryer inside the laundromat, which is located in a single-story strip mall. While the root cause of the fire is unknown, it appears the dryer may have been overloaded with clothing, causing the motor to overheat and catch fire.

The business was occupied with patrons at the time of the incident; however, no injuries were reported.

Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the business. BSO's HAZMAT responded and monitored the business as well as Imageadjacent businesses for carbon monoxide.  No other businesses were affected by the incident. Damages were limited to a single dryer in the establishment, and it is expected that the business will be able to reopen later in the day.
