Driver(s): Nicholi Seelal, male, 48, Sunrise

Description of Incident:

Broward Sheriff's Office traffic homicide detectives have identified the bicyclist killed in September in unincorporated Broward County as Maurice Fisher.

Just before 6 p.m. Sept. 19, Nicholi Seelal was driving north in the 1800 block of South State Road 7 when Fisher rode off the median and into the pickup. Fisher, who doesn't have a fixed address, was thrown off his two-wheeler. Seelal stopped and called for help.

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper who was driving by the scene stopped and began emergency care until Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived. Fisher was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He died the next day at the hospital. Detectives with the Traffic Homicide Investigation unit initially withheld Fisher's name until he could be positively identified.

BSO's traffic homicide investigators believe that Seelal was driving at or near the 40 mph speed limit.
