Initially, there is nothing suspicious about the suspect. He enters the Metro PCS store in Oakland Park and asks about cellphone plans. As the clerk signs into the computer to get the information, the man appears to wait patiently. He ends the charade, walks behind the sales counter, bares a knife and demands money.

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are hoping surveillance video released today will lead to the suspect's arrest.

The armed robbery unfolded just before 3 p.m. April 7 at 2312 W. Oakland Park Blvd. Detectives believe the suspect is familiar with the store's operations since he inquired about another worker who had just left.

The video shows the suspect ordering the salesperson around at knife point. At one point, the two disappear from view as the suspect takes iPhones and cash from a safe. He also demands that the employee open a cash register from which he steals more money.

The man is described as being roughly 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He wore a long sleeve light-colored shirt, acid-wash jeans and black sneakers. The armed robber's hair was covered by a black stocking cap. The suspect left through the rear of the business and, according to a witness, he went southwest of the business, jumped a fence into a mobile home park and then headed south.
