Description of Incident:

A Margate man who was driving under the influence when he struck two pedestrians in 2017 is in custody.

Glen Sturman faces several DUI counts, including DUI manslaughter, for crashing into the roommates who were sitting at a bus stop in Oakland Park. He was arrested June 1, 2018 following an investigation by traffic homicide detectives with the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Just before 2 p.m. March 31, 2017, Sturman was driving a Ford F-150 truck north on 15th Terrace when he turned east on East Commercial Boulevard. The pedestrians, Martin Lutz and William Peden, were waiting at a bus stop on the south side of Commercial Boulevard when Sturman made the turn and failed to maintain control. His truck veered off the road, onto the sidewalk and struck Lutz, Peden and a street lamp.

Sturman remained at the scene, and the pedestrians were transported by Oakland Park Fire Rescue to area hospitals. Lutz, who had life-threatening injuries, died April 28, 2017. Peden, who was eventually placed in a long-term healthcare facility, died earlier this year.
