Description of Incident:

A bicyclist who veered off a median and into the path of a Chevy pickup in unincorporated Broward County has died.

Just before 6 p.m. Sept. 19, Nicholi Seelal was driving north in the 1800 block of South State Road 7 when the bicyclist rode off the median and into the pickup. The bicyclist, who has not been identified, was thrown off his two-wheeler. Seelal stopped and called for help.

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper who was driving by the scene stopped and began emergency care until Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived. The bicyclist was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He died the next day at the hospital.

BSO’s traffic homicide investigators believe that Seelal was driving at or near the 40 mph speed limit. Their investigation continues as they also work to identify the bicyclist.
